All,
I've got several lab machines that we move drives in and out of all
the time. The boot drive is permanent, these are data drives only.
We've used lots of different drives up to 500GB PATA in the past.
We recently bought a couple of 750GB PATA drives.
We've tried them on 4 of our lab machines. 2 work just fine. 2 fail
to even get to the grub menu.
All 4 machines have similar SIIG PCI IDE controller cards. We have
not attempted swapping the cards around yet, so there maybe firmware
variations between the cards.
On the failing machines, the SIIG cards bios shows the drives, but the
machine locks up even before the grub menu shows up.
Anyone know what is going on?
Thanks
Greg
