Two reflex responses:
- No, no, you split anything and everything with 'split', of course.
- But in Lisp, everything is a list or an atom, right? So Emacs _must_
be the best tool for dealing with lists - splitting or otherwise.

PS - I'm actually in the "Emacs is a great operating environment; if
only they'd include a decent text editor." camp. ;)
