[ale] Way OT: 12Volt DC to 5Volt DC converter for gadgets ?

  I want to be able to plug my Garmin GPS (Linux compatible, more on 
topic now?) into the power on my motorcycle for long drives.  Is it 
reasonable to take a car cigarette lighter to usb adapter 
http://tinyurl.com/2ohxpw and connect the lighter terminals to the
positive and negative terminals on my battery?  Anyone run across
a better solution?
