Oops. Okay, thanks. I read the line, "The format of the output is
a string of 8 characters" from the manpage, so when I didn't see 8
characters, I figured it was broken.

Yeah, well, I've thought about that. But that would feel like some
sort of surrender, some sort of moral failing on my part. Sort of like
the folks who just use root as their personal account. ;)
