[ale] grub 1.5 menu stays up for 15 seconds

Subject: [ale] grub 1.5 menu stays up for 15 seconds

anyone know if this is a computer-specific issue, or a setting I can change??
when I boot, I see the grub 1.5  2 lines of text for 15 seconds before it gets 
to the OS menu selection.
