What error occurs? Off the top of my head, I believe the proper steps are
In the Finder, click Go->Connect to server. Type the address prefaced by
smb:// Click connect. A dialog listing the available shares will appear.
You can click authenticate and rescan shares to see non-public shares.
NFS is kind of a pain. You have to create connections in the Netinfo
database; see http://www.bombich.com/mactips/automount.html. Someone has
written a frontend to simplify this:
