J2EE has been around for almost ten years. My
first edition of "Enterprise JavaBeans" is dated 1998,
I believe (though I can't find it at the moment); EJB
was the predecessor of J2EE. The first platform bearing
the "J2EE" moniker shipped in 1999, according to this
