Why?  Does the kernel not allow you to make the change?  On Linux if you
change the address on the CLI you still need to run /etc/init.d/network
restart.  If not that you can at least manually apply changes via
ifconfig.  I'm sure you can use ifconfig on SCO to manually apply
changes too.
