Thanks for you reply.  I've copied most of my files from the 98 machine 
onto CDs, but have about 950Mb of archived email that I've yet to save.  
Being an older machine it only has a CD burner and have yet to take my 
laptop, which is my only machine with a DVD burner, down to the basement 
and transfer the mail archives to a DVD.  I know it's a security risk 
and rarely allow it to make a connection online.
