[ale] Audio manipulators

I want to RIP some CDs, concatenate tracks, and ultimately produce .m4a files. 
I'm looking for command-line tools that do this.  The RIP part I have down, 
and I don't care (I don't think) which order the other two happen, but 
basicaly I need an "audio file merger", and an m4a encoder.  I've not been 
able to find either (though I'm sure they're available -- the google hits are 
just filled with crap for me).

So, pointers?
