[ale] SMTP question

I have an appliance (actually a 3com nbx PBX) that I'm trying to get
to send me e-mail.
I have it talking to my 3rd party SMTP server and I'm watching the
interaction with ethereal. The "RCPT TO:" command is being rejected.
The command the pbx is sending is: RCPT TO:<greg.freemyer at norcrossgroup.com>
Notice the <> chars which I assume are illegal in a SMTP command? I
did not enter them into the PBXs entry form.
I'm not sure what I can do to resolve this? Maybe setup my own SMTP
server that accepts the <> chars?
Any ideas appreciated.
