Paul,
I actually have severalboxes running KDE, and several running gnome. I like both equally well, it's just that I hadn;t installed KDE on my laptop yet when we were over there. I probably will shortly, but it's not something that bothers me, one way or the other. I find both KDE and gnome useable, just different.
If you like what you;re working with on the KDE, keep it. Don't worry about the small stuff. Compared to Windoze, either interface is a rocket ship on the same hardware. Oh, and it probably won't crash on you, either. I have had a couple of Linux boxes that ran for literally years, only rebooting when I did a kernel upgrade.
