[ale] Capturing kernel panics during boot

Guys,

I'm trying to resolve an issue with a Xen server I have where I'm 
getting a kernel panic on boot, but my debugging is complicated by the 
fact that I can't scroll up on the terminal and the message is pushed 
off the page by the stack trace.

Aside from using a null modem cable and setting the console in the boot 
parameters, is there any other way to capture this? Xen and serial 
consoles can be complicated.
