[ale] Spam and Thunderbird

I've decided to move from Windows to Linux for my desktop but I can't 
seem to get Thunderbird to start filtering my spam.  I've checked to be 
sure it was on, (it is by default).  I went into the tools/junk mail 
controls and set it up just like I did in windows, but even after 
marking hundreds of mails as junk, it never detects a single spam 
email.  I have multiple accounts set up and I don't think any of them 
work.  Has anyone seen this as a problem?
