[ale] OT: Silver lining about AT&T (SBC) buying BS?

Checking server logs and looking up an IP, I discovered that SBC, the company that owns AT&T and provides access to Yahoo! subscribers, offers something that Bellsouth doesn't offer that I know of: removing port 25 blocking.  Apparently SBC will remove the port 25 block if you request it.  In a bizarre twist, you have to submit the request via their abuse report system as if you are complaining about abuse on their system.

Does anyone else find it interesting that AT&T (SBC) is buying BellSouth on the heels of Cingular (BellSouth) shelling out big bucks to by AT&T Wireless?  I wonder if it was a way to trade business units or if BellSouth got beat in a clever takeover scheme.  Is Comcast next?  One has to wonder...
