Depends a lot on the type of hardware. Assuming it's usb, which most of
them are these days, it could be proprietary hardware. Many of the usb
webcams are. If it is usb, do this first to see if your linux box sees it:
/sbin/lsusb
See if there's anything listed that might look like that device.
Another thing you can do is disconnect the device and reconnect it.
Then execute 'dmesg|less' and see if there is info indicating that there
was a driver loaded.
What kind of webcam is it?
