Well, it may still be hardware, but less chance of it now, 
unless it's memory going bad.

Any warnings in the log? What's the load and memory usage like?
What's it DO? ie: is this an SQL server possibly undergoing
an impossible join.. or a firewall possibly being attacked
(from without or without).. or..
