[ale] FC3 yum installation glitch

All,

I just re-imaged a box with FC3 and updated python, and now yum don't
work - I get the following error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/yum", line 6, in ?
    import yummain
  File "/usr/share/yum-cli/yummain.py", line 23, in ?
    import yum
ImportError: No module named yum


My limited Python experience suggests a PYTHONPATH or similar issue
with the location path environment, but I'm lost as to where to fix. 
Any suggestions appreciated.
