I am trying to set up a web server (Fedora 3) to support virtual hosting
with servlets (not my preference but some one wants to use them).
Normally, all the servlet crap goes in {tomcat}/webapps/foo . But that
requires write access to a shared directory plus constructing a big,
honking xml file describing all the little class files (what lunatic
though this was a good idea?). The old system was running tomcat 3 (with
all the fantastic security it had) using just plain "it's in the
servlets directory so tomcat will grab it" technology.
The web.xml file has the invoker commented out with a note about
security risks. So I promptly ignore it and uncomment it for use.
Tomcat just doesn't "see" the class files in the servlets directory.
Tomcat 5.5.9, java version 1.5.0_03, tomcat jk connector 1.2.13, Apache
2.0.52, Mountain Dew (2 fridge packs), Wrox Professional Apache Tomcat
5, Bauch & Lombe natural tears eye drops, French press coffee maker w/
2lbs expresso roast.
I think I've got the tools for the job...
