This is directly a GIMP question, but I'll start with this more-active list.

We have a couple of Canon ImageRunner 3300 printer/copier/scanner units on
our net. I use them as Unix net printers from Linux boxen.

They are generally taken offline to scan and managed through a local
computer, an interface utility ('ScanGear')[Twainish? I've no idea.], and
Acrobat Pro, to generate PDF files. Has anyone managed to use such a beast
as a scanner through Linux and a net connection?
