These days, anyone can pay for a "vanity" call. Like the GA car license
plate, you can have it say anything you want within the rules and no dups.
Generally, KD4 was probably issued before KG4 and a shorter call (WF4W)
cay indidate a more advanced license. The "4" in a US license should
indicate it was asigned to a ham in the SE.

Cheers,

> >>> We have what we call hamfests. These are a combination of new
> >>> equipment
> >>> dealers, used equipment dealers and lots and lots of people selling
> >>> their used equiipment.
> >>>
> >>> Use this link for hamfest dates.

> >>>
> >>>
> >>> As far as equipment goes, Ham Radio Outlet, HRO, is on Buford hwy
> >>> outside 285 just north of northcrest road. They have all the major
> >>> brands in stock. There is also a bulletin board just inside the front
> >>> door that has listings for used equipment and meetings and classes.
> >>> They also have many good study guides.
> >>>
> >>>
> >>> Drop me a line if you need any more information and if it isn't too far
> >>> you are welcome over anytime to see what it is all about.

> >>>>> Are there any local Lugs for Ham Radio?
> >>>>>
> >>>>
> >>>>
> >>>> I'm not sure about the lugs or the fees - but there are frequent
> >>>> hamfests and from what I recall it's not too bad to get
> >>>> licensed...your rig may be another issue altogether (Frys!) I'm
> >>>> working on getting around to getting my license too. One of my
> >>>> friends is a ham and got me hooked.
> >>>>
> >>>>
> >>>>
> >>>>> Thanks in advance, (and sorry for the OT)-

> >>>>
> >>>> Not necessarily OT ... I'm far from an authority, but does anyone here
> >>>> have experience using Linux w/ham radio operating?
