In that case, you may be out of luck with Qemu.

I've heard that USB support for devices under VMWare has improved, but
have not first hand knowledge.

Good luck, and let us know what, if anything, you come up with.  I have a
Blackberry 7750 I'd love to sync via an emulator but am in the same boat.
