I've had a similar requirement. What I did, was mount the usb drive/pen
in linux and shared it. I then picked it up via samba/windows sharing.
Works very well. I don't think you will have any trouble running XP,
just know that you will have to register it, sometimes even when moving the
install to a different machine.
