[ale] Can connect but can't ping?

Hi,

I just got a new SuSE 9.2 system (lovin' it). One problem, however, is that I 
can't ping it nor ping anything from it. But I can establish connections to 
and from it. 

I'm not running a firewall on this box. It acts as though ICMP is not enabled 
but I don't know where/how to enable it if, in fact, that's the problem.

Anyone have any ideas what's causing this?
