You're using the ACPI features to run lid.sh and all of that.
I wasn't... so yes, it probably *was* something in there.
What I was stating is that my laptop's hardware will shut the lid lights
off when you close it, automatically, no matter if you're in DOS or
Linux or Solaris. :-P All without ACPI.
That's part of the reason why I asked if you had ACPI running, and if
I'd gotten back to thinking about it I was going to see if you disabled
ACPI, what happened.
