[ale] What is apache-perl?

Is it modperl renamed?  I was upgrading apache today (debian) and saw 
that it "suggests" apache-perl and so I installed it and from the looks 
of things it is a fullblown apache  server.  If so, what port is it 
listening on? I searched for it in google, but didn't see anything 
promising.
