One good reason for subnetting at home is for wireless and wired
connections. I a /27 network at home so that I can have 30 wired and
30 wireless hosts, as if I would ever need that many. It makes it a
lot easier to write an iptables to NAT both subnets; just have to
apply the rules to 192.168.1.0/24 to cover both subnets in one ruleset
;)
As an added bonus -- <a rel="nofollow" href="http://homepage.mac.com/neticen/subnetcalculator.html">http://homepage.mac.com/neticen/subnetcalculator.html</a>
