On my many visits to LA, Ca. my first stop after checking into my hotel
room was the Fry's in Manhattan Beach. Due to the extensive travel I was
doing at the time, my wife would very often have to pay the credit card
bills. I would get home to WWIV with her waving these bills from Fry's.
They have everything and anything you could want, to include
oscilliscopes, data analyzers, and even frequency generators. The place
caters to the pro techie as well as the avid hobbyist and including the
types that are still looking for the "Any Key". When they first opened
out here, I went bonkers, so my wife came with me. We left after
spending half a day there with her placing the rule that I'm not allowed
in there by myself. Oh well, the price we gotta pay for a little piece
of heaven. Also if you get to travel and you visit other stores (Fry's)
you'll find that very much unlike Best Buy, Circuit City, or Wal-Mart,
each store is designed differently. The one I used to go to in LA was
designed like a Tiki Village, but did not have the restuarant in it. It
also was the 3rd store to open in the chain back in the 80's.
They at one time were only about a dozen stores. Some of you may
remember a Tandy Corp store called Incredible Universe. They went
bankrupt back in 97. Fry's had bought all of the stores west of the
Mississippi River, leaving the rest to whatever. This was how they grew
to a larger company almost overnight. But yes do go, but use caution, as
temptation can be verrrryyyy strong to max out all of your plastic.
