[ale] HOW2 implement a framebuffer device while running from SysRescueCD ?

I need to run QtPartEd to adjust some partitions and it requires a 
framebuffer to enable graphical mode, which I have indicated at bootup 
as fb800, i.e. 800x600.

But when I attempt to run qtparted, I get...

	can't open framebuffer device /dev/fb0
	driver cannot connect

Since it was nonexistant at bootup, I created /dev/fd0 by...

	mknod fb0 c 29 0

What's wrong and how can it be cured ?
