[ale] OT: Compiler for Mac OS-X

I bought a iMAC yesterday for a project.  (First OS-X Mac at out company.)

Need to compile some "C" source code and my "Mac expert" is telling me
I have to sign up as a Mac Developer and then wait for a password to
get access to a download site where I can download a compiler.

Seems crazy to me, but we registered a couple of hours ago and still
don't have a password to download the compiler.

What other choices are there?

Maybe a place to download a gcc compiler that works on the Mac?
