I love dueling desktops, too :)

We use older nVidia cards at school for multi-desktop display, but we're 
running under XP, so it just extends the desktop onto two screens. (But the 
windows in screen A only maximize to A while those in B maximize to B, 
though you can manually stretch a window across the two monitors.)
