P = R * I^2

Power lost at the connection is related to the current and has nothing
to do with the voltage.
However low voltage systems need more current for the same power
(P=U*I).
Because of this a little bit of added resistance is actually less of an
issue in high voltage systems. (Think high voltage overland power lines)
