If its available, the Apache status module might give you some clues as to what
it is. If you're not familiar with it, load mod_status, and then find where in
your httpd.conf file it mentions /server-status and make sure its enabled. Then
just hit the server at /server-status and it should tell you what all of the
children are doing/have done. Make sure ExtendedStatus is set to on. Note, this
will cause a performance hit, so if your server is heavily loaded, it might
cause performance issues.
