[ale] HOW2 cut&paste using xterm ?

If your running X then the usual left mouse button highlighting and then middle mouse button to paste works fine.  Without X running you have to use gpm for the mouse to work the same way.

I need to cut/paste text from various text files [to emails,etc.] and on
reading "man xterm" see that vt102 emulation affords this ability.

Has anyone successfully done this ? If yes, how, please ?
