That's part of the trade off with using dd this way.  You're taking a
snapshot of the partition and any file system on it.  Excluding files
would require reading the file system and pumping that out to an
appropriate piece of software (like tar).  

Fortunately, I don't have many XP machines to take care of, and they
behave well enough with the points copied.  I will also admit this
process can be slow, but I've found it invaluable for forensics, since
it produces exact copies.
