Steve, I've been using Vonage for about a year and a half. In that time I
have lost phone a couple of times. Once from a power outage that affected
the whole city for a few hours. No big deal. Once they had a problem but
it didnt last more than an hour or so. Again, no big deal. My wife's
cell picks up when that happens. In my opinion, it;s cheap and reliable
and it sounds fine. I got on the unlimited local service with 500 minutes
of LD which I've been unable to use up any one month. And, when I was
doing the setup the techie understood Linux and told me all I needed to
know to get on the air.

One word of advice, run a router separate from your main machine and put
your ATA in a dmz. Then you can play with your main machine without
killing your phone. I also got away from the internal house wiring by
buying the Uniden multiset pack from Sams and it all works like a charm.
