[ale] Xwindows problems in freeBSD 5.2.1

For some reason I cannot get the video to work with my Nvidia Geforce
128MB card.  I know the Vsync and Hsync and they work in my linux
system just fine.  I just keep getting vertical lines each time I try
it.  FreeBSD comes with my card in its list.  So I select it and keep
adjusting the video (1024x768, 800x600 etc) but X either will not come
up at all or it comes up with lines.  What the heck is going on here. 
It is driving my nuts!!!!
