[ale] X10 cameras and Linux

I'm looking at securing my home with a few surveillance cameras.  Would
like these to point to my Linux box and then have the ability to stream,
etc.

Seems I remember some other folks on the list doing this sort of thing. 
Is it possible?  Any caveats?  I'm particularly interested in streaming
the stream from my web server so I can check in from work.
