> I've been using this: <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.bluehaze.com.au/unix/cdbkup.html";>http://www.bluehaze.com.au/unix/cdbkup.html for
> a month or 2 now for CD backups, and it works pretty well. Adapting to
> DVD for backup wouldn't be hard (just have to change the chunk size
> for the tar files it produces).
>
> The only caveat is: you need enough local diskspace somewhere to write
> the tar files (which can be gzipped) before they get written to
> removable media.

>> Does anyone know of any backup packages out there for Linux that will
>> write to DVDs? Sure I could roll my own with a complex script
>> involving growisofs, dvdrecord, find and some filters but I was
>> hoping not to reinvent the wheel. I envision tossing a DVD RW in the
>> drive once a day/week/? and letting the thing run overnight. I'm not
>> looking for full system backups, just important data.

>> Thanks,
>> Jim.

That would be about half of what I want. I'd like this to run
unattended but if I'm reading that right the burning half is still manual.

Thanks,
Jim.
