I'm curious now. I'll buy into the serious security problems with NFS 
idea, but is there a useable replacement, at least for a stable network of 
desktop machines in a somewhat secured environment? Preferably a system 
strong in Unix background, and nearly NFS simple to set up.

Pointers to a decent web discussion would be wonderful.
