hehehe, hasn't play SUSE for quite a while, what boot manager does it use?
If it is LILO or GRUB, it should be really simple.

Once you boot into it, you need to edit /etc/lilo.conf or
/boot/grub/grub.conf to add 'ide=nodma' to it. (location may vary for SUSE)

X.

> How can I disable it using the command line?

man hdparm
