I thought that Hauppauge TV cards were compatible with Linux, so I bought one.
A WinTV-250 PVR. To my surprise, it was not automatically detected. I manually
added it using Yast2, but it still didn't work.
As I did more digging, I learned that I need something called bttv compiled in
the kernel (I think). I have searched for this "bttv" and have not been
successful. Moreover, it is NOT available as a package in Yast2.
Questions:
1. Can anyone recommend a nice *hardware* TV tuner card that will be auto
detected in Suse (8.2-9.1)?
2. Should I stick with the Hauppauge WinTV-250 PVR?
3. Where can I get bttv?
PS
Here is what happened when I went looking for bttv (recommended by various
websites):
computer:~ # vim /etc/modules.conf
computer:~ # bttv
-bash: bttv: command not found
computer:~ # rmmod bttv
