[ale] grub problems

Working system with some empty space.  Started an installation of RH WS 
and told it not to install a boot loader.  The install terminated 
because of a bad disk.  Now when it boots, I get:

GRUB Loading stage1.5.


GRUB loading, please wait...
Error 15


That's it.  No prompt.  All I can do is reboot the box.

Attempted to boot with a rescue disk, but when I pass parms to the boot 
process, I get the same thing.

Clues anyone?
