Adam Arrowood taught me a fun game called "Spin the Plate"

This is where you talk to them just a bit, then say you've got to
go get a pencil and something to write on. Set the phone down
for a few minutes, have a snack, play a game, whatever.

Come back and see if they are still there, get them going again.
Then make up another excuse to leave the phone, promising you'll
be right back.

See how many times or for how long a time period you can
stretch this out. It can be a family competition to see who
can get the highest score!
