I decided to send this e-mail out to let everybody
know about Software Freedom Day, if you haven't heard
about it already.
The project is titled Software Freedom Day, and its
website can be found at
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.softwarefreedomday.org">http://www.softwarefreedomday.org</a>. The goal of the
project is to organize as many local teams as possible
so that on August 28th, a worldwide celebration for
Free and Open Source Software may be held.
Software Freedom Day is providing some informational
materials that can be distributed in public places,
and they are working in conjunction w/ The OpenCD
(<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.theopencd.org">http://www.theopencd.org</a>) to provide Windows ports of
popular open source projects (like Mozilla, Firefox,
OpenOffice, etc.) to people who have had no exposure
to open source software. This is a great idea that
will expose lots of new people to open source
software.
With that being said, is anybody interested in
organizing something in their local regions of GA?
The Macon, GA Linux User Group (MGALUG)
(<a rel="nofollow" href="http://members.cox.net/mgalug">http://members.cox.net/mgalug</a>) is hoping to organize
something in Macon, and if anybody needs or is willing
to help, feel free to let me know.
Thanks everyone,
SAJChurchey
