[ale] relocating cvs

Hi ale'rs,

I am attempting to relocate a cvs repository from a solaris box to a debian box, and it's not working.  Has anyone had success with moving a repository and retaining history?  I can check out the code fine, but if I do an update or add it doesn't work (repository not found error).  I even tried to emulate the tree to the repository with no luck.  Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
