[ale] dvd playing

Okay, so I drop a dvd into my drive, open up xine and it plays.  WOW! 
So, I shut my box down to connect the audio cable from the drive to the 
sound card and upon reboot, the thing won't play.

Anyone know the proper syntax to pass to xine?  The docs mention:

xine dvd://....

But I'm not sure how that corrolates to the existing device.  It appears 
the video is under a subdirectory on the drive (/media/dvd/VIDEO_TS)
