[ale] ThinkPad 600E sound under RH9?

Help!  I installed Red Hat 9.0 on a ThinkPad 600E (model 2645) last night.
Everything went well, except that I can't seem to get audio support.

I the sound detection utility from the system settings menu.  I believe
that utility deals only with Plug and Play-adhering hardware.  It reported
that no sound cards were found.

I also tried the command-line "sndconfig" utility.  It does report that it
found a Cirrus Logic CS4610.  It then reports that it's not supported. :=(

I've Googled a few times, but probably not enough.

Can anyone point me to a quick (or even a slow) fix you've applied to
your ThinkPad?
