[ale] NIC full-duplex settings

Just noticed a number of these in my system log:

eth0: Setting half-duplex based on auto-negotiated partner ability 0000.

eth0 plugs into a 10/100 switch....I'm not sure how this auto-negotiation
works, but I'd sure prefer to be running full duplex (which the card does
support).

Anyone know why the card is being set this way, and what I can do to
override?
