I don't think it's my place to make an official opinion, but I'll
provide my personal one. :)
Yes, I think one should trim responses appropriately. Yes I think that
responding in line to a message so that the relevant points are easily
addressed is appropriate.
I think retaining references to the proper posters is very important,
unfortunately, many mailers don't, by default, differentiate between the
responder and the original posters.
Although I've been guilty of a top post here or there as well as not
trimming appropriately, haste is the cause, regardless, I too shall
attempt to do better.
As long as we're sharing opinions, personally I find the long drawn out
off topic posts more aggravating then anything else. I'm just as guilty
as the next guy for posting OT stuff, but when it get's to the point
that 90% of the postings have nothing to do with Linux, I cringe.
